New ES-GE 3-axle megatrailer: With hydraulic rear lowering system for more efficiency in everyday loading operations
We have expanded our portfolio with a new 3-axle mega trailer. The vehicle’s special feature is its hydraulically lowerable rear section. Combined with an extendable loading table, the system enables simplified loading and unloading of self-propelled work machines. In everyday operation, the semi-trailer can also be used like a megatrailer with a flat loading area. For example, the 3-axle vehicle also features container locking devices and stake pockets. This practical solution is suitable for all transport companies for whom flexibility is more than just a buzzword.
Robust 3-axle chassis for up to 42 tons gross weight
The vehicle’s technical base is a three-axle chassis designed for a gross weight of 42 tons. Each on of the three air-sprung axles can carry 9.000 kg, and the maximum permissible fifth wheel load is 15,000 kg. Our new ES-GE semi-trailer weighs approximately 7,650 kg unladen, offering a theoretical payload of more than 34 tons. The load is transferred to the road via six tires of the dimension 445/45 R 19.5. Depending on the load and cargo, two of the three axles can be lifted if necessary. The vehicle is optionally available with a self-steering axle. This upgrade increases the permissible axle loads by 1,000 kg each, and the theoretical payload and gross vehicle weight by a total of 3,000 kg.
Innovative rear design for a flat approach angle
The folding section of the rear is approximately 2,250 mm long and can be lowered by up to approximately 350 mm. Inside of it is a hydraulically operated, extendable loading table, approximately 1,500 mm long. This itself carries two loose ramps that complete the innovative rear design and enable access at a low angle of about 10°. The system is powered by the tractor’s NATO socket and can be controlled via a radio remote control. This allows for continuous control of both the retractable part of the loading area and the extendable element.
Safe access even with low ground clearance
The extendable loading table and the folding part of the loading area provide a maximum wheel load of 5,000 kg when lowered. This value applies to vehicles with a minimum wheelbase of 3,250 mm. With the help of the attachable aluminum ramps, the rear also offers the option of comfortably driving lighter equipment with low ground clearance and a short wheelbase onto the loading area. The maximum load for the pair of ramps is 4,000 kg or 2,000 kg per ramp. Depending on the weight of the vehicle, driving completely over the ramp in the lowered position is not necessary, as the rear, including the loading table, has a lifting capacity of up to 5,000 kg. Conical Design for Maximum Loading Height
The hydraulic rear lowering system of the ES-GE megatrailer is a real added value. But it’s only part of the overall package. What only becomes apparent at second glance. For example, the loading height at the rear is approximately 160 mm lower than at the front. This conical design provides an additional buffer for the loading height. With the requirements of self-propelled machinery in mind, the trailer’s construction is specifically designed for high floor and point loads. This is achieved, among other things, by the heavy-duty outer frame. Also the put-through cross members, and the Z-shaped hardwood floor embedded in the outer frame add stability. Hot-dip galvanizing of the chassis, headboard and underrun protection, as well as galvanizing the attachments, ensure durability. The vehicle therefore impresses not only with its technically sophisticated features, but also with its robustness and comfort in daily use.
